Register for the Small Business Rock Stars Awards Luncheon on Feb. 15, 2016, which kicks off Georgia Small Business Week (Feb 15-19). In addition, GEDA Entrepreneur SIG Chair Donna Armstrong-Lackey encourages members to submit your small business week activity to Ryan Waldrep at rwaldrep@georgia.org. These events will be included on an event calendar on Georgia.org. Additionally, Small Business Week will kick off a new We Speak Business blog series featuring entrepreneurs from around Georgia--feel free to send Ryan information about innovative small business in your communities.

VXI project
ATLANTA, December 17, 2015—Gov. Nathan Deal announced that VXI Global Solutions (VXI), a business processing and information technology outsourcing services provider will open a call center in College Park in 2016. The new facility will create 570 jobs for the community. Congratulations to the team involved in the location of VXI included Artie Jones, Director of Economic Development, City of College Park; Kerry Norton, Project Manager, Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD); Doug Coffey, Project Manager, Georgia Power Company; and Gregg Simon, Vice President, Economic Development, Atlanta Metro Chamber of Commerce.
Jindal project
ATLANTA, December 10, 2015—Gov. Nathan Deal announced that Jindal Films Americas LLC (JFA), a global leader in the manufacturing of specialty films for packaging and labels, will relocate its U.S. Research and Development (R&D) Center and national headquarters to Troup County. JFA will expand an existing manufacturing facility in LaGrange, creating 240 jobs and investing $180 million in the community. Congratulations to the team involved in the JFA project, which included: E. Jane Caraway, Senior Project Manager, GDEcD; Charles Stallworth, Senior Project Manager, Georgia Power Company; Bobby Carmichael, Executive Director, Development Authority of LaGrange; and Mike Criddle, Economic Development Director, John Sadosky, Economic Development Manager and Mayor Jim Thornton, City of LaGrange.

We extend our sympathies to the family of former GEDA Board Chair (1973) retired Brigadier General Harold A. Dye, who died on Dec. 9, 2015, at the age of 98. Read his obituary here.
